The Weekend: 6.5-6.7

There might just be too much to choose from this weekend.

Here's a rundown of events happening in a neighborhood near you:

Friday, June 5

Art: Part of Brooklynite Patricia Cronin's catalogue raisonné on Harriet Hosmer begins today at the Brooklyn Museum. While there, check out the museum's Eco Fair, featuring local artisans and authors selling eco-friendly wares in the gift shop Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The museum is located at 200 Eastern Parkway.

Open Studio: There's lots more art to experience this weekend, beginning with Bushwick Open Studios, whose more than 200 gallery openings and events kicks off tonight and runs throughout the weekend.

Music: Newish spot Roots Cafe in South Slope also gets in an exhibition this weekend, celebrating the work of owner Jamey Hamm, as well as Frank Troy, and the photography of Betsy Clifton and Kyle Gunnels. From 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., there will be free food and PBR (of course), as well as music by Gypsy George and Bryan Nebel. Roots Cafe is located at 339A Fifth Avenue.

Saturday, June 6

Street fair: While strolling the art openings at Bushwick Open Studios, head over to Williamsburg Walks, back for a second season. Bedford Avenue will be closed to traffic, so play some badminton, get some food, and enjoy the open road.

Craft fair: Feel like shopping? Head over to the Renegrade Craft Fair, also back this year, with DIY vendors filling up McCarren Park with their cute wares. Think Etsy. Also on Sunday.

Open Studio: After Bushwick, head south to the Atlantic Avenue Artwalk, between Atlantic and Hicks, with more open studios for your chance to meet the artists that live amongst you, as well as sample some music and restaurant specials. Also on Sunday.

Music: If you like The Jealous Girlfriends, you'll love Holly Miranda, one-third of the pop-rock band, who plays solo at The Bell House. She's on tour with Alabama-based rock band A.A. Bondy. It all starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12. The Bell House is located at 149 7th St.

Food: -Get a "Bite of Bococa" with a food and wine tasting event at the Transit Garden (Smith Street and 2nd Place), featuring samplings from over 20 of the area's restaurants, food and wine shops and bakeries. Each bite's $2 (or, for the bargain, $20 for 12). Local musicians and vocalists will also add to the festivities, which go towards maintenance of the garden. It happens from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a Sunday rain date.

Sunday, June 7

Walks: A fun play on the traditional walk-a-thon, ISSUE Project Room holds its own Soundwalk-a-Thon, an exploration of the city's streets and parks through sound and music to benefit the performance space. Sound artists will curate their own walks through neighborhoods like Gowanus and Carroll Gardens and in Prospect Park. Spots are limited, so sign up now.

Beer: Like beer? (Stupid question?) The Bell House hosts its first annual Brooklyn Beer Experiment, with amateur chefs battling it out to find out who makes the best dish with beer as an ingredient. You can compete too in a separate homebrewing competition. The audience, as well as a panel of celebrity food and beer judges, will pick the winners, ultimately crowning the Brooklyn beer king or queen. It happens from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the $18 ticket including one beer.

Reading: Brooklyn favorite John Hodgman reads 700 Mole-Man names (a bit from his latest book, "More Information Than You Require"), at Union Hall, with musical accompaniment from Jonathan Coulton. This one's kind of baffling, yet still intriguing, so you may need to go just to see how it all plays out. The performance starts at 9:30 p.m., with tickets $10. Come early and catch Tearing of the Veil of Maya, with comedy by Eugene Mirman, Todd Barry, Anthony Jeselnik, and John Mulaney, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7, available at the door. Union Hall is located at 702 Union Street.
