24/Seven preview

Each week we'll preview what you can expect in our 24/Seven print edition, out Thursday for you southern Brooklynites and Friday for the downtown neighborhoods.

Highlights include:

Reading: The Brooklyn Book Festival returns to downtown Brooklyn this year September 13, with Comic Con coming to the borough as well. There will be Park Slope author Yona Zeldis McDonough, who celebrates the release of her third novel, "Breaking the Bank," as well as with a reading September 9 at the Park Slope Barnes and Noble.

Music: Check out the Knitting Factory's new Brooklyn location starting September 9 with Les Savy Fav; the Windsor Terrors celebrate turning 60 September 11 at the Greenhouse Cafe in Bay Ridge; rock out for the troops in the neighborhood the next night at the Leif Erickson Bar; and the Park Slope Bluegrass & Old-Time Jamboree returns to the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture September 11 and 12.

Art: BWAC presents "Words of Color" for its fall show, a narrative show in which artists will have a written narrative as well as their art work as part of their presentation. It runs from at the Red Hook waterfront space from September 12 to October 25.

Performance: Get lost in this maze. "You Are Here," a performance installation, comes to Williamsburg's Death By Audio, beginning September 10.

Theater: The Bushwick Starr makes a familiar story new as it presents "Rocky Philly," which interweaves the classic story of the “Rocky” films with testimonials of everyday experiences from Philadelphia residents. It starts its month-long run September 9.

Columns: Michele at Pumps & Pleats updates her fall look at Industry, a women’s apparel boutique in Bay Ridge, while the Kitchen Klutz goes Hollywood with veggies - sauteed cabbage and cherry tomatoes - and Helen reminisces about her time in Italy with frullati in The Reporter's Table.
