Even more in Brooklyn for Haiti

Nearly three weeks after the hurricane, and Brooklyn's arts community is continuing to show support.

In addition to the afro-beat-tinged benefit at Knitting Factory tonight, The Woods in Williamsburg is throwing ROCK + RESCUE, featuring sets from Das Racist (pictured), Fresh Kills and Columboid, and a special guest. All proceeds will be donated to the resucue relief efforts.

There is a $10 donation. The Woods is located at 48 S. 4th St.

This coming Saturday, February 13, the MOMS Club of Park Slope is throwing a Haiti relief sale. All proceeds from the rummage sale, which will include kids and baby clothing, toys, books, household items and more, will be donated to the relief efforts as well.

The event is from 10am-2 pm at the St. Savior Parish Hall (611 Eighth Ave.). From 1-2 pm, everything will be half-off.

ADDED: Southpaw hosts bklyn2haiti tonight, which is raising funds for Partners in Health, which has been providing health care services to the people of Haiti for over 20 years. With performances by Girls in Trouble, Air Waves, SCREENS, and Ill Ease, as well as DJ Jonathan Toubin (NY Night Train). Tickets $12. Doors at 8 p.m. Southpaw is located at 125 Fifth Ave.

ADDED: In non-music news, Pomona Beauty Sanctuary is offering $35 haircuts on February 16, from 1-6 pm. All proceeds will be donated to the Haiti relief fund. Space is limited so call for an appointment at 718-768-1343. The salon is located at 447 Seventh Ave.

ADDED: Members of the Kingsboro Temple Church (415 7th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenue) in Park Slope, among one of the largest Haitian populations in New York City, are partnering with the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) to throw a benefit concert on February 6. Among those performing include singer Jovita Sheppard, David Metayer and One Accord, spoken word artist Shanelle Gabriel and the Kingsboro Mass Choir.

The Kingsboro Temple Church is located at 415 7th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, with the concert at 6 pm. Donations are encouraged and all proceeds will be donated directly to the Adventist Development Relief Agency.
