The Weekend: 2.12-2.14 and beyond

With it being Valentine's Day and all this weekend, as expected, there are a lot of events for singles and couples alike. Those looking to avoid red and hearts this weekend, don't fret - there's tons of non-V-day related shows and events too. Here's a look at what's happening in a neighborhood near you.

Friday, February 12

Games: Remember skee-ball? Yeah you do. This weekend, Full Circle in Williamsburg is hosting their inaugural Skee-Ball iPhone App Tournament, with the grand prize being an iPod touch, and ironic glory. Games kick off tonight at 8 pm, with play all weekend long. Located at 318 Grand St.

Music: The Watson Twins are riding the release of their new album this week. Come celebrate tonight at the Bell House in Gowanus. With openers and hometown band La Strada. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. At 7:30 pm. The Bell House is located at 149 7th St.

Theater: Get acquainted with "New Hope City," a new play from Bushwick band Pass Kontrol. Don't forget to come in costume. Running this weekend and next at the Bushwick Starr (207 Starr St.) at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 online and $12 at the door.

Saturday, February 13

Year of the Tiger: Ring in the Chinese New Year in Brooklyn, as the New York Chinese Cultural Center will bring the splendor of Chinese cultural traditions to the Kumble Theater stage at LIU, with classic pieces such as the Bow Dance. Tickets $20, $15 for students and seniors. At 2 and 7:30 pm. Located at Flatbush and Dekalb avenues in Downtown Brooklyn.

Music: Ebony Bones has been heralded as the second coming of Lady Gaga. See why at Southpaw tonight in Park Slope. At 9 pm. Tickets $10. Located at 125 Fifth Ave.

Party: You follow Stuff Hipsters Hate. Now celebrate the launch of the book at Glasslands Gallery tonight in, of course, Williamsburg. Tickets $6. At 11 pm. Located at 289 Kent Ave.

Sunday, February 14

Valentine's Day: Check out our guides for what to do this dreaded/loved day, from couples looking to dine and wine, to those looking for something...different, to those looking to make it a family affair.

Monday, February 15

Music: Missed out on tickets to the We Are Plastic Ono Band at BAM? Don't despair: The band will be opening doors to their dress rehearsal tonight. No word if Eric Clapton will show up but hey, you never know. Tickets $30-$55. At 8 pm. Located at 30 Lafayette Ave.

Tuesday, February 16

Movie night: Come celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 80s cult classic Troop Beverly Hills. You've always wanted to be a Wilderness Girl (or guy), now here's your chance. Director Jeff Kanew will lead proceedings with an introduction. Dressing in costume is not required, but totally encouraged. At 8:30 pm. Tickets $15 in advance, $20 day of the show.

Fat Tuesday: Mark Mardi Gras with these parties (don't forget to check the comments section as well for more). Best bet: the L Magazine's parade, culminating at a Wavves show at Brooklyn Bowl.

Wednesday, February 17

Theater: Stew nailed it on Broadway with "Passing Strange." Now see him in Brooklyn at St. Ann's Warehouse in "Making It." Not to be missed. Tonight through February 22. Tickets range from $42-$82. Located in DUMBO at 38 Water. St.

Thursday, February 18

Benefit: Help save the City Reliquary in Williamsburg with tonight's NYC Firefighter Date Auction. Several firefighters will be showcased and auctioned off to the highest bidders for an exclusive night out on the town. Bidding for individual firefighters will open at $40, and all proceeds will go directly to the museum. At 7:30 pm. Tickets $20. Located at 361 Metropolitan Ave.

Food: Celebrate the launch of the new book "The Art of Eating In" by going out. The Bell house hosts a launch party extravaganza and Crostini Cook-Off. The $10 admission includes tastes from crostini cook-off entries, appetizers from Hapa Kitchen and A Razor A Shiny Knife, beer specials and music from zombie jazz quintet Father Figures and DJ sets by Finger on the Pulse, as well as a reading from Erway and a cast of characters form her memoir. At 7 pm.
