New face of Brooklyn Philharmonic

The Brooklyn Philharmonic has announced a new music director, reports the Times ArtsBeat blog.

Alan Pierson will take on the role of the cash-strapped orchestra's new artistic director, effective immediately. For more on Pierson, click here.

His debut 2011-2012 season will be announced later this spring. For now, you can catch the orchestra's string quartet this Sunday at the Brooklyn Museum for its "Music off the Walls" series.
