'Sunny' side of things at the Bell House

By Meredith Deliso

The Bell House loves it some television.

The Gowanus venue has been on a tear lately with its TV parties, from “Arrested Development”– to “Flight of the Conchords”–themed nights of screenings, games and contests.

The fun continues on March 15, with a screening of the best of seasons one through three of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” hosted by comedians Michael Austin Jerm Pollet.

“The choice was an easy one,” said Pollet. “It’s a hilarious TV show about a bar, and we’re a show about TV at a bar!”

In honor of the screenings, there will be all manner of homage to the debauched comedy helmed by Danny DeVito — the bar will be transformed into Paddy’s Pub, “canned wine and all,” and there will be a live performance by an “It’s Always Sunny” tribute band, a character impersonation contest, trivia contest, and more festivities that are too insidery to go into full detail here. And for those who aren’t opposed to wearing tight spandex, there’s free admission if you arrive in a full Green Man outfit.

“I’m also looking forward to seeing how many people show up dressed as the Green Man,” said Pollet. “Plus, it’ll be fun to share a little irresponsible drinking and bad decision making, inspired by ‘the gang.’”

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” TV party at the Bell House [149 Seventh St. between Second and Third avenues in Gowanus, (718) 643-6510], March 15 at 8 pm. Tickets $5. For info, visit www.thebellhouseny.com.
